Commercial Rebate Program
The Commercial Process Efficiency program for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers will be a multi-stage program with each application taken on a case by case basis. A free service to Santa Fe Water Utility commercial customers will be available to evaluate all aspects of their water consumption to determine how their company uses water. Auditors will suggest opportunities for reducing water consumption and discuss their eligibility for special commercial rebates.
Incentive
The Water Conservation Office offers rebates to commercial, industrial, and institutional customers for installing new equipment and processes that conserve water at existing facilities. The amount of the rebate will be based upon a calculation of the estimated amount of the potable water saved by the process upgrade at a rate of $15,000 per acre foot or 50 percent of the installed cost, whichever is less.
All commercial process efficiency projects must be approved prior to purchasing or installing any equipment. Projects will not be approved retroactively.
Commercial Process Efficiency Example
Business XYZ saves 830,000 gallons annually by installing a $100,000 water process upgrade. The saved water divided by 325,850 equals 2.55 acre feet. $15,000 x 2.55 = $38,250 and 50 percent of $100,000 is $50,000. Customer XYZ will receive a rebate of $38,250.
