Earth is often referred to as the blue planet. It is covered by water on 70% of its surface. However, there is a major water shortage crisis that is currently underway. Since all human beings and indeed all living things need water in order to survive, this is a very serious issue.

There are a few signs that the world needs to conserve water or face the consequences. The first of which is the fact that only about 2% of the total water on the planet is fresh water and drinkable by humans. Of that 2%, about half of it is frozen in the planets ice caps and thus unattainable to us.

Water pollution is a major problems that is making it more important to conserve water then it has ever been before.

The amount of time that we spend doing things like taking showers is a huge waste of our resources, and this is plaguing the poorest countries the worst. Humans need to start conserving water, and doing it very well or we are not going to have enough of it to go around in the future. That is the reality of the situation, and that is why conservation is the only appropriate answer.

Conserving natural water resources will ensure that everyone in the future will have access to safe drinking water. Water conservation methods are developed by city leaders in order to conserve this precious resource. Most cities have programs in place that will limit water use during certain seasons of the year. Spring and summer are commonly the months where water conservation rules apply to residents.

These conserving methods include restricting water use to a specific number of hours and days in the week. You can no longer freely wash your car or water your yard whenever you want. You must follow their rules in order to avoid being fined by the city. These methods are put in place to benefit everyone in the future. There must be systems in place that guarantee future water for everyone.

If you are moving to a city, you should check the city’s website for information about water restrictions. Some cities also raise their prices during peak water usage. This is to discourage wasting water and benefits the community. Wasting water is a common problem almost anywhere in the country. When you water your yard or wash your car, consider using a nozzle that restricts water flow.

General Maintenance
The first and most obvious step in conserving water in your own home is to perform regular checks on all of your pipes and faucets.

Kitchen
Only run washing machines and dishwashers when they are full. Hand-washing your dishes can save even more water, as long as you are not constantly running the faucet. Instead, fill your sink with just enough soapy water to submerge and scrub a few dishes at a time, or simply soak and lather your dish sponge.

Bathroom
We all know that turning off the faucet while brushing our teeth saves a fair amount of water, but going one step further and also cutting of the shower while shampooing will conserve an exponential amount of water. As well, you can save hundreds of gallons of water each week by only flushing your toilets when there is solid waste in them.

Outdoors
Growing native plants in your yard can be a wonderful way to cut back on watering, as they are suited to the local environment and rain patterns. Fitting rain barrels to your gutters and watering your lawn from them in the coolest part of the day will also cut down on water waste.

Water generates energy when it flows or falls. The result is hydroelectric power, and an environmentally-friendly and powerful renewable energy.

What are the benefits to water energy?

Water energy, or hydropower, has many benefits. The energy has fair maintenance and operating costs, power plants that create it emit very little of the carbon dioxide that contributes to global warming, and the plants last up to ten times longer than those that produce nuclear energy or coal.

What are the downsides of water energy?

Hydroelectric plants take up space and may disrupt the habitats of animals. Large-scale projects may disrupt river flows and recreational activities. Aquatic life may also decrease in the vicinity of a hydroelectric plant.

How much of the world’s power is supplied by water energy?

About 20 percent of the world’s power comes from hydroelectricity. Nearly all of Norway’s energy needs are met by hydropower, but only 13 percent of the electricity in the United States comes from water.

What does hydropower cost?

The size of the plant is a huge factor in determining the cost of water power. Hydroelectric production costs are 75 percent less than the costs of gas turbine electricity production and about 60 percent less than nuclear power or coal plants.

Oil, natural gas and coal are fossil fuels. Humanity has been dependent upon these fuels for a very long time. From lawn mowers to mass transportation, fossil fuels power society. However, the dwindling supply of fossil fuels should definitely make society worried.

There are only a finite number of fossil fuel resources on the planet. Once they’re gone, there is no way to replenish the fossil fuels. The reason why mankind cannot make their own fossil fuels is because fossil fuels take millions of years to make. The whole story can be found at http://daydaily.com/2013/02/28/renewable-energy-becoming-cheaper-than-fossil-fuels/

All of the known fossil fuels are considered to be non-renewable, which simply means there is no way to replenish them. There is no escaping the fact that fossil fuels will eventually run out. If mankind has not reduced its dependence on these fuels by the time all of the fossil fuels are gone, life as we know it will come to a screeching halt.

Renewable energy is the solution to this looming problem. Unfortunately, as of right now, only seven percent of the world’s energy needs are being fulfilled with renewable energy. However, this is not because there is not enough renewable energy; it’s because of cost and a lack of cooperation amongst nations.

Conserving water is something that you should definitely worry about. In fact, there are a lot of reasons to do so. First of all, you have to think about your monthly budget. If you have city or county water, you probably have to pay a fair amount of money on your water bill every month, and this bill can really put a damper on your finances. If you work to conserve water, however, you can actually save a lot of money.This{{/tag} helps explain it more. Along with saving your hard-earned cash, you can also help the environment by making the effort to conserve water.

The first way to start conserving water is to change your habits. In fact, you might not realize just how much water you waste on a daily basis. Make an effort to turn the water off while you are brushing your teeth, for instance, and take showers instead of baths to save water.

Next, consider making a few changes around your home. Purchasing a toilet that is designed to conserve water can really make a difference. Changing your shower head is another great way to conserve water, and make sure that you check for leaks around your home as well.
