In the beginning...
the City of Santa Fe sponsored its 1st Children's Water Conservation Poster Contest in 2004. The contest is now an annual event with each year becoming more popular and successful. The poster contest, which is held each year by the City of Santa Fe's Water Conservation Office, provides teachers the opportunity to discuss with their students the importance of conserving water. The 2010 7th Annual Children's Water Conservation Poster Contest's theme, "Our Water, Our Future," gave hundreds of students the opportunity to artistically illustrate meaningful water conservation messages.

The First Santa Fe Children's Water Fiesta...
was held on March 13 & 14, 2003, at the Sweeney Convention Center where students and teachers gathered to celebrate water. The Santa Fe Children's Water Fiesta continues to be a growing success. Educating students and teachers about water and its relationship to human and other natural resources in a fun and interactive atmosphere is the primary goal of the event. The activities are designed to help students understand that water is an essential and limited resource and teach what each of us can do to protect and conserve our precious water.
Our Vision is to:
- introduce students to new ideas, options, and solutions so they will conserve and protect water for the future
- lay the foundation for further learning
- reach as may children as possible
Project Objectives are:
- to educate students about water and its relationship to human and other natural resources in a fun and interactive atmosphere.
- to present water-related facts, concepts, and values through fun, hands-on learning activities
- to teach students about causes and prevention of non-point source pollution
- to provide water education resources to teachers
- to enable community organizations to participate in this water education program
